One evening Jesus said to his disciples, 'Let's go over to the other side of the lake.' Jesus was tired and fell asleep on a cushion at the back of the boat.
A furious storm came up. Waves crashed into the boat until it was nearly filling with water. The terrified disciples woke Jesus: 'Teacher, don't you care that we're about to drown?'
Jesus got up and spoke to the wind and the waves: 'Peace! Be still!' The wind stopped and it was completely calm. Jesus asked, 'Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?' The disciples were amazed and asked, 'Who is this? Even the wind and the sea obey him!'
This miracle shows that Jesus has power over creation. The disciples were scared, and it's okay to feel scared. We can bring our fears to Jesus, just like the disciples did. Feeling afraid doesn't mean you have weak faith — it's an invitation to trust him.
