A large crowd followed Jesus to a hillside near the Sea of Galilee because they had seen his miracles. Jesus asked Philip, 'Where can we buy bread for these people to eat?'
Philip said even a lot of money wouldn't buy enough. Andrew said, 'There's a boy here with five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?'
Jesus had the people sit on the grass. About five thousand men were there, plus women and children. Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and handed them out, and the same with the fish. Everyone ate as much as they wanted. Afterwards the disciples gathered twelve baskets of leftovers!
The boy's lunch was small, but Jesus used it to feed thousands. When we give what we have to Jesus, even if it seems small, he can do great things with it. This miracle also shows that God cares about our everyday needs.
My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
